iPad...It's Official~Digital Reading Has Arrived

All I can say is, OMG!
Okay, at this point it doesn't matter whether you're a PC or a MAC, you have to admit... iPad is awesome at it finest. I think my favourite part of Apple's recent launch party was when Steve Jobs quoted someone who'd said..."The last time people were this excited over a tablet, there were commandments written on it." And I couldn't agree more. I mean, what isn't there to like...

It's sexy, streamlined, powerful and so much more than anything out there. Just look at it... it oozes vibes that scream "Buy Me... I'm perfect." And for those of us who make a living in the e-book world, it could very well change the face of e-books.

Now, I know many of you are saying... hey, Kris... there are plenty of e-readers out there. Hell, they've been around for a while now. And yes, you're right... there are Nooks, and Kindles, Sony's and Astak's... and they're all fabulous in their own right. But for me, I'm a hard and fast Apple Girl.

Let's look at the specs... 'cause yeah, I'm that geeky. The iPad has a 9.7 inch, LED backlit IPS display, with a Multi-touch screen, but weighs just 1.5 pounds and is only 0.5 inches thin. It has Wi-Fi, an optional 3G networking capability and is able to do anything an iPod touch can, only bigger, and clearer. The battery lasts a full ten hours and you can get the coolest accessories I've ever seen, including a keyboard dock. But, in terms of writers and readers, it's the ibook application that's going to turn e-books into the hottest thing on the planet... well, that's what I'm hoping anyway.

Just as Apple's iTune store changed how music lovers bought and shared their music, I'm hoping the new ibook store revolutionizes the way readers look at e-books. Because let's face it, presentation is a huge selling factor. Just as many authors will argue that a poor (dare I say ugly or misleading) book cover hinders your sale's potential, applications which don't make you want to sit down and stare at your device for the next few hours won't make people want to buy e-books. But just look at this app! I don't even have one and I'd love to sit down and read a hot, steamy novel on this baby. The images are crisp and the way the book shelf flips to take you to the store... I think it's true... Apple doesn't do anything until they can do it right. And I think this is oh, so right.

Now I'm sure they'll be those who shun the very thought of another gadget out to lure us into the black hole of technology, but I'll gladly jump right in. Anything that makes readers WANT to read an e-book is music to my ears. And if the iPad does that, then I'm all for it. And hey, if readers can jump to my website after, to check out more hot reads, who am I to object. Integration of all the senses is key in writing a good book, and I think it's equally key to enjoying the experience of reading that book.

Okay, I'll get down off my iPad bandwagon, but I can't help but be excited. Apple has sold over 75 million iPod touches and phones.. so that's 75 million people who already know how to use the iPad right out of the box. Leaving those that don't to take the extra five minutes to figure it out... yeah, it's that simple.

Now, for my last bit, I wanted to take a moment and gush over my new release with TEB, a fantasy/medieval novella that I just loved writing, entitled Healing Hands. Just look at the cover art! Lyn Taylor so outdid herself on this one. It's exactly how I envisioned. She even incorporated Mira's magical blue aura into the picture. Sigh...

So what's Healing Hands about? Well, here's the blurb and a naughty little excerpt.

Mira has only five days to lose her virginity, or face certain death… and only one man is up for the job.

Shunned by her Kingdom because she’s been given the gift of healing over fire, Mira anxiously awaits her freedom. All she has to do is complete her Rite of Passage and pass the auspicious Ritual of Sisterhood. There’s just one catch. If she doesn’t lose her virginity before the Ritual begins, she’ll be killed. And just her luck, none of the Kingdom’s tutors will touch her.

Hoping to ensure failure, Mira’s been given a tutor with a curse of his own. Hailing from Garinth, Keegan’s plagued with a serious problem. His body only reacts to women who possess certain qualities. So when he wakes to find himself imprisoned in a Kingdom ruled by witches, he can’t imagine how any of them measure up. But then, he never counted on Mira, or on the way his body comes to life, filling his head with delicious images of seduction. He’d love nothing more than to tame this pretty little witch, but can he claim her before their time runs out?

Keegan stepped forward, corralling her towards the wall until her back pressed against the cold stone. He fought to keep his touch light as he cupped his hands around her waist, drawing her close. She stared up at him, her hands timidly reaching for his shoulders as he pressed his cock against the soft mound of her sex. She gasped, but didn’t struggle, widening her stance just enough she could cradle his shaft between the lips of her sheath.

The groan he’d been holding back broke from his chest as her sensuous flesh parted for him. Even through both their clothes, there was no mistaking the slide of her juices as he moved along her slit, scraping the rough fabric against her clit. Her mouth opened slightly and the softest of moans caressed his skin.

He bent over her, licking the fullness of her lips. “Tell me your name, sweetness.” His voice was low and gravelly, and he knew she heard the lust in it. He wasn’t just asking for her name. He was asking what to shout when he came inside her.

Her reply was whispered on a gasp as he brushed his thumb across her breast, flicking her nipple as he dipped inside the bodice of her dress. It wasn’t a flattering frock by any means, but he didn’t care. She’d look far better naked and spread out before him, her glistening sex bared to his gaze.

Mira inhaled as he pinched the tight peak, exposing it to the cool air, before bending down and laving it with his tongue. She tasted like warm honey and he pulled at the other side, needing to taste that nipple as well.

“You haven’t told me your name yet,” she said, pushing her breast into his mouth. “What shall I call you?”

Keegan pulled back, loving how her eyes had darkened. He was finding it hard to concentrate with the smell of her sweet sex tantalising his senses. He’d caught her scent the moment he’d pushed her against the wall, and he knew if he slipped his hand beneath her dress, she’d be dripping her juice down her thighs. He cocked half his mouth into a smile at the thought.

“Well, my sweet Mira…”

His voice faded as her name triggered a memory.

And for my final contribution, here's the Book Trailer I made for Healing Hands. I just love the music and the image of the Castle. Thank God for great photo sites. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks again for stopping by.
Romancing adventure at a time.

Hi Genella,

Yeah, you gotta love the spam... I'll try to delete it.

Yes, I'm pretty excited about the iPad, it looks sexy and already having an iPod touch, I just know it's going to be awesome.

I'm also glad you liked the tidbit. I quite like this one, lol.
