Cupid's Tears, by Jude Mason

Because it's Valentine's Day, the day for lovers, I'm sharing what's called a flasher about the special angel who visits those lucky people and shoots his arrows of love into their hearts.

Cupid’s Tears (200 words)

His shoulders ached with an unholy ache he couldn’t remember feeling before. He shrugged and stretched his arms overhead, hoping to ease the pain. A sudden stab pierced his heart.

“Figures,” he muttered, resting his hands on his knees. “Of all the people to be alone, who’d have thought it would be me?” He shuddered and feathers brushed his sides. The muscles in his back twitched. He shuddered again when the feathers tickled.

Gazing into the sky, he sighed and whispered, “Star light, star bright…” The rest didn’t come. He didn’t know how to ask. *I want someone to love.* How could he ask? Who could he ask?

“No one cares,” he whispered. Tears trickled down his cheeks.

The soft hiss of cloth against cloth behind him made him jerk around.

Strong hands gripped his shoulders, kept him from turning completely, insuring the strangers’ anonymity.

His heart fluttered. His cock pulsed, lengthened.

Hot breath warmed his neck.

“I care,” a deeply voice murmured. “I love you.”

A tongue flicked his ear lobe, sending a shiver of excitement down his spine. His heart leapt. Visions of the young man he’d yearned for, dreamed about, loved filled his thoughts.

“Yes.” Cupid wept.
