It’s 1970. The world is in upheaval. Can two people really make a difference and find love at the same time?
Noel Flynt signed up for the Army to carry out his family duty. He never expected the travesties of Vietnam to take their toll on him. He’s coming back to the world he thought he knew, but with everything changing around him, he’s going to have to learn he can’t live in the past.
Cindy Stephens couldn’t wait for Noel to return. She sees the man within the uniform and has loved him for as long as she can remember. But times have changed. She’s not the timid schoolgirl any longer. Can she accept his changes, too?
The only constants are time and love.
Reader Advisory: This book contains one war hero, the woman who loves him, lots of hot sex, with a little spanking mixed in for good measure.
When I set out to write this story it was totally character driven. I wasn't born when this story is set. Nope. I'm a youngling. But I did a lot of research to make sure the story came across as if I had.
But as I said it was character driven. I had these two people who kept talking. Who was I to not listen? That's where things got complicated. The hero referred to the heroine for the longest time as 'babe'. I had no idea what her name was. Then he talked about situations I had never been in. I've only been out of the United States a couple times and only to Niagara Falls. So to make sure this soldier's stories were viable, I did a lot of research. A LOT. I talked to Vietnam vets and read extensively. The television show Vietnam in HD helped a lot as well.
Then I had to get the heroine to tell me her name. I had a pretty good grasp on the hero and the broken parts of him. But she was an enigma. 'Babe'.
I shouldn't have worried. Once the hero got his story across, all that back story, that's when the heroine started talking. She was strong, quiet and willing to take on the challenges Noel presented. Cindy was a good match for him.
Putting the pieces of their relationship together to get their story told was difficult and emotional. Yes, there are sexy things happening in the tale. It's erotic romance. It has to be sexy. But there is a lot of emotional baggage between these two people. Sorting it out and keeping it from overtaking the story got to be tough.
So where did I get the title of this post? Noel finally told me his nickname for Cindy and he's a soldier. Simple.
This is a story near and dear to my heart. I hope it is to you, too. Be sure to get your copy.
