Dare Me to get Invited?

I love invitations. Just looking at an invitation peaks my curiosity. What's the event? Who else is going? Food? Drinks? Outfits?

And once I get there, I'll probably spend half my time hoping something scandalous will happen, so I'll have something to tell my friends later. What better place for scandal than a party?

It's my love of invitations that gave me the idea for my series called, no big surprise here, Invitations. The first story, Now or Never, is about a woman who uses a borrowed invitation to get into a masked party. She has a mission--get back at a guy who overlooked her. She doesn't get revenge, she gets something much, much better.

What happened to the woman who gave up her invitation to the masked party? This new release, Dare Me, picks up where Now or Never left off. And it's available now. Here's a bit more about the story:

A hotel bed, two pairs of handcuffs, coils of rope and a body builder with a naughty plan—can Kitty Maar handle it all?

Kitty Maar’s secret identity as Kelly M—the ultra-adventurous sexploitation blogger—is the result of Kitty’s overactive imagination.

Her outrageous tales of hooking up with the hottest guys in DC, attending parties at the most exclusive addresses, and joining in on spontaneous ménages at political fundraisers are the talk of Washington. So when she makes plans with Damian Markos, he’s expecting a true sexual wildcat.

Damian’s secret plan is to surprise Kitty with an evening so intense it will test even her sexual boundaries. It isn’t easy coming up with something the city’s most notorious man-hunter might not have already done, but he has connections that run deep in DC’s inner circles.

Damian is determined to show Kitty that he’s the only man she needs to satisfy her every need. Kitty is crazy about Damian, but will she be able to accept the sexual challenge he has planned for her?
Reader Advisory: This book contains mild BDSM.

A note from Elizabeth Lapthorne author of The Agency Series.

So January is almost finished and already that indulgent break over Christmas seems to be a million years away. One of the resolutions I made this year was to try and rest a bit more. Finding time in my days to go on walks, read that book or even just (gasp!) sit on the couch or in the sun and daydream. Sounds kinda simple, right? But with work crowding out every moment it can possibly grab, I tend to find sneaking time for myself harder every year.

The upside to forcing myself to stop and enjoy life is my imagination is brimming with ideas and characters. Lately I’ve been really enjoying my Agency series – full of guns and action, steamy romance and deadly villains. I’m stoked that I’ve got a number of releases coming up in 2013. I ended the year on a high note – New Year’s Eve saw the release of Passionate Immunity  and Passionate Vengeance is due for release on the TEB site Feb 11th.

Hopefully there’ll be plenty more to come – and I can have the bonus of having more energy because I’m taking time out and not just working myself to the bone.

Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful 2013 – full of spicy sex, daring adventures and maybe a few minutes to daydream when the mood strikes ;-)

science!

You know, I had such great plans for today. Working on the very last problems in a story that's been bothering me for months now so I can finally send it to my editor, write a piece for this blog,...
But no, the neighbours downstairs called in panic that their kitchen was being flooded. Yeah, and so was ours.
The combination of an old house, sub zero temperatures for weeks and sudden thaw did the trick. There was no trickling of water in our kitchen but a waterfall.

To complicate things even more, our neighbours are in their eighties (both healthy and of excellent mind, but still) and both my wife and I are of the two left hands each variation. (that story they tell you about lesbians being so handy with stuff? Well, that's not us)

But, we do have two secret weapons: our sons. 22 and 18 and totally into science. The eldest studies nano biology and the youngest medicine. They looked at the situation, talked in a language that sounded like Dutch but wasn't and agreed on the to be used method.
Their other mum and I asked if we needed to call a plumber, but they looked at us if we were saying something weird. (and it's not like we would have found any plumber anyway, since a lot of houses now how problems with the thawing ice and all)

The scientific method consisted of a rubber hose, a few cords, lots of boiling water, something called gravity and the youngest (the medical school one) said something about a bypass.

I still have no idea what they did, but we no longer are the owners of an indoor waterfall, the kitchen is dry and I might even have the time to finish that story.

So, now you know why I didn't write that nice, juicy blog post. ;-)

Hey, Baby, Let's Go To Vegas...

I'm in Las Vegas for the first time in about five years.

I'd forgotten how much fun the city is, how diverse, how energizing.

Unfortunately I’m here for a workshop, so I can’t play 24/7 (bummer), but there’s an excitement that comes from driving (or walking) up The Strip, no matter what time of day. Seeing the fountains, the pirate fights, gondolas, the Eiffel Tower, roller coasters, fabulous lights, food, billboards, stunning architecture, helicopters offering sightseeing tours, circus acts, and, oh, my God, the shopping…it all makes me feel like a little kid again!

And then, if you continue past the Stratosphere, toward Freemont Street, you can catch glimpses of the old (and if you turn the wrong way on Freemont, the seedy side) Vegas. There’s the light show and a totally different experience when you’re downtown.

There don’t seem to be clocks in the casinos, so it’s possible to totally lose track of time. It’s like being in another world.

It’s a place that pays homage to imagination, where little is forbidden, where things get more and more outrageous.

And it makes me think about setting a series of books here…  Surely even the Doms here are bigger than life…? What do you think…?

An Anniversary

January is a special month for me, especially within the past couple of years. January 17, 2011, to be more precise. That's the date my first story was published - and right here at Total E-Bound, I'm excited to say. The Deciding Factor, a MFM novel, took me the better part of two years to write. I spent countless hours rewriting and editing and starting over before I finally came to an end. It's the first book I truly wrote to the very end. I submitted, rewrote, waited, submitted again. When TEB offered a contract, I was naturally thrilled. To this day, this story moves me and when I go through the pages, I'm reminded of why I love this story and the characters so much, and will be forever grateful to TEB for allowing this tale to shine.

Since then, I've written several more stories, for TEB and others, and the need to write is stronger than ever. I only have to squeeze in more time to write. Sleep is so overrated, if you ask me.

In honor of my 2nd "I'm a published author" Anniversary, here's a sexy hot snippet from The Deciding Factor. I hope you enjoy.

Being with two men suddenly became a lot more complicated...

Reuniting with both a first love and a first lover within a matter of days is enough to make any girl’s head spin. Alycia Delaney is no exception.
Sawyer Test and Luke Coldwell are best friends and each man wants Aly for himself.
Leaving the choice to her, Aly opens door number three and decides they should embark in a summer-long ménage.
But when talk turns into action, each participant is forced to question their impulsiveness, and Aly is left caught between the safety of a painful decision and the perils of following her heart.

Excerpt:

Luke shook his head, his earlier smiling face replaced with determination. “I changed my mind. We can talk later. There’s something I have to do first.”
She watched, suspended, as Luke lowered his head and his mouth drew closer to hers.
Pull away.
Her breath caught in her throat.
Say something to break the mood.
Her tongue darted across her lips nervously.
Turn your head and—
Oh hell, what’s one kiss, after all? It’s not like Sawyer and I are exclusive. We haven’t even had our first date yet, well, this time around anyway. One kiss, that’s it. One kiss to get these damn butterflies out of my system and then its good-bye, Luke, for good.
Contrary to her intentions, when their lips met, Alycia’s entire self went into complete meltdown. This was no sweet, pleasant “It’s good to see you again,” kind of kiss.
This kiss put a match to lighter fluid. Passion ignited between them so hot and fierce her head spun. She clutched his shirt to keep from falling over.
His tongue thrust into her mouth and she met him eagerly, clashing in a duel to see who could give the most pleasure. He tasted of dark coffee and sweet chocolate, a combination sure to be the death of her, pulling her deeper and deeper under the spell of his mouth.
More.
She yanked her arms from his grip and flung her hands behind his head, smashing their bodies closer, wishing the fire between them would melt away their clothes so they wouldn’t have to undress themselves.
Aly threw all she had into his kiss. Memories of how they’d been flooded her, mixing with the more experienced man Luke was now. Everything, all her thoughts and feelings and sensations, tumbled together into a new high. She sucked on his tongue and nibbled his lips. Nothing mattered but this singular moment in time. When he shifted his head to slide his mouth down her neck, she groaned, needing his lips back on hers. He answered by nipping the soft spot where her neck and shoulder met. She cried out, stilled a shivery moment as his tongue laved the bite, then tried to tug him back up to her mouth.
He pinned her against the wall and ran his hands over her body like a starving man. Her breasts ached, and her nipples stung from where he’d tweaked them through her blouse. His hand travelled down her body, over her hip and lower until he hooked her thigh over his leg. Without hesitating, Luke shoved his hand under her bunched up skirt and pushed aside her panties. He thrust one, then two thick fingers into her pulsing, wet flesh. “Oh, yeah,” he moaned. “You’re so wet. That’s it, baby. Go over for me, Aly.”
Luke spoke in a tone low and controlled, his heated words teasing whimpers from her throat. She wanted what his body promised with acute desperation. She rocked against his hand and cried out when his palm massaged her clit. His fingers twitched deep inside, touching places she’d never known existed, causing her to tighten in delirious anticipation. Within seconds she saw stars as a long overdue orgasm ripped through her body. His mouth crashed down on hers, swallowing her exuberant moans.
The sound of her name being called penetrated her fogged brain. She stiffened. It wasn’t Luke doing the calling.
“Shhhh,” Luke whispered and pressed closer, bruising her belly with his erection. She still had her leg draped over his and his fingers moved gently within her still-pulsing channel. She trembled and bit onto his shirt to keep from crying out again.
“She’s not here,” Luke called out without letting her go.
Breathing hard, but as quietly as she could, she squeezed her eyes shut, thankful they were behind the screen. She could only pray whoever had walked in would turn around and leave. Fast.
“Luke, is that you?”
Aly froze in shock. Sawyer. Oh, dear God.

Something New

This year I am working on trying some new things. Getting outside my comfort zone. It is fun, exhilarating and scary all at once but I love the feeling. I love to challenge myself to do and try new things. I already have some ideas of the new things I will try but for others I haven’t decided yet. :) Something new is a good way of getting your heart racing and mind clear.

Another new is the new plans on my 2013 writing calendar, which is already filled with wonderful stories I plan to write this year. I have lots of plans for books I want to write this year and my mind is filled and I can’t wait to get started. But…I will. One of my something new this year is I promised myself I will take January off from writing anything new. This month will be all about relaxing and then the last week or so I will be preparing for my upcoming writing projects. Taking a break is something I’ve been lax in doing lately so 2013 and going forward I have made my writing schedule so I can do that and still keep the writing plans I have. :)

2013 is the year of something new.

What squicks you out?

I've always had my nose stuck in books. There's a sequence of photos that my Dad took many, many years ago, when my sister and I were both kids. The first picture is of Yours Truly avidly reading a comic book, the next one is of my bratty little sister (she's not a brat any more) trying to take said comic book, and the photos continue. But, in any event, it's photographic evidence that I was most likely born a book worm.

I stumbled onto romances back in the 1970s. (I tell you, I'm old). Back then, the shelves of the romance section in the book store was crammed with big, thick paperbacks by Katherine Woodiwiss, Rosemary Rogers, etc. etc. I devoured them and discovered that I loved romances with naughty bits in them. This brings me to today's burning question.

What grosses you out, as a reader, when you're reading a sex scene?  My personal pet peeve is an excess of feminine 'juices', whether they glisten on the hero's chin, or soak the bedclothes.  Really? Methinks someone needs to get her lady bits checked!

So, gentle reader, tell me what your personal quibbles are when it comes to reading the Naughty Bits?

Don't worry, I won't tell a soul.

Happy New Year from Victoria Blisse!

Hello all and Happy New Year! Wow, 2013 has arrived, I was only just getting used to 2012! I hope you're all settling well into this new year, have you managed to remember to write the right date yet? Always takes me a while to get the hang of that. I've got a lot of writing planned for the net twelve months, so I better get cracking with it, eh?

My first release of 2012 is Literally Bitten, paart of the Valentine's Collection, Immortal love, this is a vampire love story with a twist. Checkout the blurb.

Books brought them together, blood lust binds them, but can her puritanical father pull them apart?Lily loves fiction and has done since she was a child. It was her escape from the harsh reality of life being brought up by just her over-protective dad. Tom only ever reads textbooks, claiming that there’s enough to fascinate in this world and that he has no need to read about pretend places. But when he walks into Lily’s book shop he finds out they have a lot more in common than he first thought.
When the young couple take a trip to the famous vampire and human bar, The Point, Lily gets a shock. Her estranged father is there as part of a Purity protest; he is violently opposed to her, Tom and anything that the cult calls unclean. Which is just about anything fun.
Can Lily and Tom overcome these prejudices and their own inexperience to find love that will last forever?

I got a fab review for this book too from Susan Foulkes!

The hero and heroine are engaging and you really want them to achieve a happy ever after.
Despite their innocence there is a fair smattering of hot sex scenes and the whole book has an underlying, understated humour...
..All in all this is a fun read but one that will also make you think.

New Year, New Opportunities & Free Story

Oh I know, I should have made up my list of resolutions starting early September. Like everything else, those year-end things get earlier and earlier every year. Every calendar for the following year is sixteen months, because you need those four extra months to wrap your brain around the concept of the coming year. Everyone's acting as though the New Year is nothing but old news, and half of us are probably feeling as though 2013 has passed us by already. Nonsense I say!

I'm saying that primarily because it is just now dawning on me that it is 2013. Time to determine what I will accomplish this year. Now I'm not quite that far behind - I did actually come up with a production schedule a few months back. But I also want to look at setting up a new website - or refurbishing the current one. Like my house - it could use a good remodel. My desk area could use some serious help. It looks like someone just decided to use a corner of the living room one day and make it into a fake office with a T.V. tray as part of the elite set-up. Actually, that's exactly what happened. Hmmmm.

So while I have basic outlines of story ideas - some are even half-written already - and I have a rigourous deadline schedule, you can see there are some areas of my writerly life that could use some sprucing up. And you know what? It's very early in the year folks - we all have plenty of time to achieve some wonderful goals this year. It's the twelve months as a whole that counts, not just trying to cram everything into the first one and call it good.

On a very good note, I do have a free story that is available in this month's newsletter. It is a contemporary MMF menage, and you can check it out here: http://news.total-e-bound.com/newsletter.asp?article=790#4

Also, for you MM romance and uniformed men lovers, I have Book One in my Uniform Encounters series, Set Ablaze, coming out March 18th. Check out that one here: http://www.total-e-bound.com/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=&P_ID=2022

Next month, I'll give you a hot excerpt. Until then - keep those goals and dreams for 2013 alive. There are plenty of opportunities - we just need to grab them when they come our way. Anyone want to share what some of their big goals for this year are?

Winter Challege - A Cross-Dimensional Adventure

The existence of other dimensions has always fascinated me. From the possibility of one or more parallel Earths to completely different worlds, the possibilities are endless. Winter Challenge explores one such potential parallel universe. Originally part of the Sins of Winter Anthology, it is now available as a single story:

In Winter Challenge, Serena Yates deals with the sin of greed.

Paediatrician Noah Goldwin receives some bad news—his father has died and his greedy elder brother doesn’t only take over the family business, he wants the entire fortune for himself. So, he informs Noah that he was adopted and washes his hands of him.

Noah, who never knew of his past, sets out to find his roots. An elderly aunt, a mysterious ring and a location in the far north of Canada are his only hints…until he meets a tall, dark stranger who may have the solution to all his questions. There is only one problem—Ataro lives in a parallel dimension.
Will the two men be able to find a way to join forces? How will they defeat the power hungry enemies on Ataro’s world? And are inter-dimensional relationships even possible?

I hope you'll enjoy following Noah across to a different existence!

Five Sentence Friday Fun With Wendi Zwaduk

New Year and New Fun. Okay, so it's Friday and it's the 11th. Normally on my own blog, I'd be celebrating Five Sentence Friday. But... it's the 11th. So... I'm going to celebrate ELEVEN sentence Friday right here on the TEB blog. And with what? My story, Miss Me Baby. Sure! I love the characters and I hope you do, too. Here's five--no, eleven sentences from the story. Let me know what you think!

“Huh?” John leaned on the bar to hide the shaking in his hands. Bile burned in his throat. “She was just here last night, saying she was excited to get home. What happened?”
“She probably was excited. God had a higher calling for her.”
“This is ridiculous. Who are you?”
“Felicity.”

Did it pique your interest? Want to know more? Sure you do!  Here's a little bit from my latest release, and yep, there's a warning label on it. Grin

Say you’ll haunt me, since I’ll never stop loving you.

Felicity Black never quite understood love. She worked her assets to get what she wanted and didn’t care who got in the way. Until she met John. He saw past her superficial self to the woman inside. Death separated her from John before she could tell him how she truly felt. Now she’s got her chance...just not in the way she expected.

John wanted Felicity to haunt him. She had been the only woman to stir not only his heart but his soul as well. But the woman claiming to be his lost love can’t be her... Felicity was dead. He has to decide whether to trust his gut or walk away from a new start.

Can a second chance at a first impression lead to love or a lifetime of heartbreak?

Reader Advisory: This story contains an out-of-body experience, voyeurism, spanking, rough sex, masturbation, and a chance for love to strike twice.

Mosborough Hall

This month I took advantage of one of my Christmas gifts, which was a weekend away with my husband at Mosborough Hall near Sheffield. Mosborough Hall is a beautiful old building which was formerly owned by William Carey, the husband of Mary Boleyn, whose sister Anne spent so much time fighting to marry Henry VIII only to have her head cut off. The building has recently been renovated and now has a modern extension which holds the bar, but several of its rooms still retain their old-fashioned charm – and, in the case of the John Lord Darcy suite, the ghost of the White Lady.

Guess which room we were staying in.

The story of the White Lady of Mosborough Hall goes back to the 1600s, when a governess had a dalliance with the married squire and found herself pregnant. Being financially strapped, the squire withdrew his promise to set her up with a house and money for the baby, and in desperation the girl threatened to tell his wife – at which point he slit her throat. Guests have reported seeing the figure of a woman in white as well as hearing the angry voices of their final argument which led to her death.

Well, how could I resist? After all, ghost or no ghost, the room was stunningly beautiful, and the surroundings were just perfect to serve as research for my current WIP. My husband doesn’t believe in ghosts, but I’d promised to give him a nudge if any White Ladies showed up at the end of the bed.

None did. Admittedly I didn't bother with the Yvette Fielding routine - the room was so full of creaks and bangs that I could have been having a conversation with the floorboards. Although we did capture the below photo…

…but I suspect that the nearest we got to a White Lady was in the cocktail bar.

Heroes to lick!

With a new book out almost every month in this New Year of 2013, I am really into men and heroes in a big, big way. I want to tell you what I really love about them and what you can tell about a man by the way he treats his woman.

I love them (and don’t you too?) in any shape or form, as long as they love to be loved and give it right back.

I like him strong, silent only when necessary (wink!), and giving.  This usually means he has/had a mother he loved for all the right reasons. It also means she taught him how to respect other women.  He also had a father or male role model that he found stable, introspective and mighty of mind and soul.

Men who are timid around the modern woman befuddle me.  After all, contemporary American women have been “liberated” for at least one generation. This means that the Flapper girl and Rosie the Riveter gave way to the Hippie chick and the Career Woman. The twentysomethings and thirtysomethings who are Sweet Things have a pair of youknowwhats on them that a modern man must deal with. For all the fathers out there who teach their sons to wash the dishes or run the vacuum aside from mowing the lawn, we women applaud them. And we want more, more, more!

So when it come to men in the bedroom with us (or on the kitchen table or on the floor), we really want to see their acquaintance with anatomy (for openers) and even the kama sutra. If they have a working knowledge of sex toys, I say, Yeah BABY. And if they want to try cuffs or chains, plugs or clamps, then we women will be all the better for it. They will, too!

After all, if you can ask for it with impunity in the bedroom, you KNOW you can ask for that raise from your boss!

The Chocolate Did NAUGHTY Things To My Thighs

If my name, instead of Genevieve, were Juliette--the name of the heroine in Hyperpersonal, Hypersexual, my first romance novel EVER (thanks, Total E-Bound!)--I wouldn't have to pay quite so much attention to my grocery list of new year's resolutions.

As a buxom, brilliant and effortlessly seductive young woman, Juliette doesn't have to worry about how she looks. Because, to the men who love her, she looks perfect all the time.

Unfortunately, I don't possess the same mythological metabolism--or a comparable number of studly admirers.

Instead, I'm still feeling guilty about last week's triple chocolate cake. And the chocolate volcano cake the week before that. Need I mention the lovely lemon cookies spangled with dark chocolate chips and caramel (an unlikely combination, I know--but delicious all the same).

The eggnog spiked with bourbon and adorned with a tapered crown of fresh whipped cream served to calm the senses just after Christmas, yet did unspeakably naughty things to my thighs.

In a fit of holiday cheer, some friends of mine and I prepared with verve a pecan-chocolate-caramel concoction, baked it, and then applied the moniker "The Pie That Shouldn't Be In Anyone...But Is" after we each consumed multiples of the heavy, flavorful slices and ended with night with pangs of regret in our bellies.

And unlike Juliette, now, I have to go to the gym.

Not without tears, of course.

Like clockwork so far this week, I've dabbed my eyes at the very sight of the 5:30 a.m. spinning classes programmed into the calendar on my mobile. Earplugs do precious little to block out the chirp-like reminder of my ill-conceived commitment.

Alas, it's been four days, but the learning curve at the gym is short, and these things I know:

You can sweat buckets until your clothes are sagging wet. Unfortunately, the effort does nothing to prevent my sagging triceps (compared to the toned triceps of the boys who didn't have to make any stay-in-shape resolutions).

The butt-blasting, awkwardly acrobatic remedies for my bulbous ass result in sore muscles and negligible improvement. (Who ever heard of an attractive ass described as bulbous? Henceforth, I'll refer to myself as "queenly.")

"Muscle burn" set in one day one...and has yet to subside. I've concluded the condition is not temporary and should be called, more aptly, "Muscle Burn Syndrome."

Now I simply console myself by ogling my quintessentially masculine and in-shape peers, of which there is certainly no shortage in Washington, DC.

Fodder for another book, at least. Eh, Juliette?

Lots of love,

Gen xoxo
