Do you have a secret? That one thing that no one knows about you?

With the releases under Totally Bound’s new imprint, What’s her Secret, and my book Last Call, I have been thinking about what secrets people have.

They can be big or small. They can be naughty or nice.

Secrets can be just about anything.

I’d love to be able to reveal some great mysterious secret but honestly…I got nothing! Lol!

So I thought I’d share about my decision to write and how most people take it.

When asked, I say I write paranormal romance, I don’t really get into the erotic aspect of things. I figure once people look at my website or go to Totally Bound’s they will figure it out. I mean have you seen the sexy covers I have. OMG, they are hot!!!!!!

So I guess for people who don’t know me are probably surprised that I do in fact write erotic paranormal romance.

To the stranger on the street, they have no idea when they walk beside me on the street, that I’m making up a story about them in my head. Either they are going to get ravished by a dominant werewolf or they might be the next victim of the naughty vampire.

Now the people closet to me do know. My husband, siblings, parents, and even my daughter know what I write. Although I won’t let me fifteen year old daughter read any of my works yet. Even the people that I work with, as my day job, know and are supportive.

When I was asked to write a book for the Totally Bound’s imprint What’s her Secret? I was thrilled! I absolutely loved the concept and sat down to start to plan.

I felt that the best way to outline was to think about what I would like to read. If I could figure out what the characters secret was.

It shouldn’t come as a shock to most of my readers that I decided to go with the paranormal. It’s what I enjoy the most. Like I always say to my husband… I read paranormal before it was cool. Lol!

So in my short story ‘Last Call’ we met Piper Maxwell. Piper has spent the last several years running from her past. Working for Jace Anderson, Piper must decide if she’s ready to stop running.

The follow-up book to Last Call will be a novel length story that will show how Piper comes to terms with her true self.

An Unusual Theme for a Sweet Erotic Romance

I’ve chosen an unusual theme for my sweet erotic romance between an adoring and long-married Regency couple – childbirth.

Yes, there’s lots of sex in Lady Lovett’s Little Dilemma, but there’s also fear and longing, betrayal and disappointment. I think these elements which we are all familiar with, really add to the payoff in those final, heartfelt paragraphs.

Cressida, my lovely, 26-year-old heroine has had five children in eight years and is more in love than ever with her husband. However, she’s terrified a sixth child will kill her. Her own mother died in childbirth with her sixth child and Cressida’s last child, born just over a year previously, came after a difficult labour which almost killed her.

Since then she’s been too terrified to welcome her gorgeous husband, Tristan, into the marital bed. He doesn’t know what to think, because until the final stages of her last pregnancy she'd always been so enthusiastic; and poor Cressida can’t bring herself to speak the truth for she’s torn between the desire for the passion she’d once experienced, and knowing that she must do her duty – even if it kills her. As a Regency woman of her times she has no idea there are methods of minimizing pregnancy and has been indoctrinated into being passive when it comes to obeying her husband.

But when she learns in public and dramatic circumstances that her husband has apparently returned to the arms of his previous lover, Cressida’s passivity turns to primal desperation to do what she must to win him back.

With the aid of a woman (who is not all that she appears), Cressida learns about contraception and bedroom matters, before embarking upon a bold charade to win back Tristan’s love which takes both husband and wife on an adventure of a lifetime.

Misconceptions are stripped away and by the end of the book there’s not just one Happy Ever After, but in fact three.

That’s why Lady Lovett’s Little Dilemma is one of my favourite sweet erotic romances.

Here’s an extract in which Cressida, dressed in widow’s weeds, ventures to the house of ill repute she’s heard so much about to see if  the rumours are true. At Mrs Plumb’s Salon she finds Tristan at a desk in a quiet room at the back of the house.

But what of his real reasons for telling her he’d be at his club?

Justin was busy working at something. She knew that his look of polite interest masked the fact that his mind was completely on his task.

He was here…alone. There was a document in his hands. Not a woman.

And he had no idea who his new visitor was. Cressida could say anything, do anything…

The sense of being an actress in a play took hold. Boldly she went over to him, standing in his light just a couple of feet away.

She did not move, did not falter as she gazed up at him through her heavy veil. Justin was here at Mrs Plumb’s, exactly where she’d dreaded she’d find him, but his concentration on a particular document suggested his interest in the place was not the women.

Of course it was not, and how like Justin. Justin was just as likely to be concerned over the use of child labour as the rescue of fallen women, but had not wanted to hint to his protected wife that his work involved him with such depraved creatures.

All Cressida’s doubts about Justin’s constancy dissipated to be replaced by the unadulterated joy at the prospect of being taken in his arms once again.

Yet as she stepped forward she felt again the slightest stirring of doubt. Catherine always told her she was much too credulous for her own good.

“Mrs Plumb told me I’d find the gentleman I was looking for in this room.” She made her voice softer, breathier. Holding the back of the sofa she turned, swaying slightly towards him, striving for a tone and gesture both appealing and vulnerable. Justin’s chivalrous impulses were easily stirred. She wanted to see the effect she had on him when she was not his wife but a stranger. An appealing, interested stranger.

She raised a trembling hand to her mouth. “I am a widow, sir. I lost my beloved husband a year ago. Mrs Plumb directed me here. She said you were a kind man who’d listen…if I wanted to talk.”

Despite the dimness of the room she saw indecisiveness cross his face. Justin was a kind man but how far would he allow himself to be swayed by a lonely widow? How much did she want him to be?

She caught herself up. This was madness. She had no desire to be confronted by her husband’s weaknesses—if he had any—yet here they were, in a cosy, intimate setting, where each could pretend to be someone else.

It was too much to resist.

Lowering herself onto the sofa, she tilted her head in invitation. “Just five minutes of your time, sir. Perhaps you knew my husband?”

I hope you enjoyed that teaser of an exchange. Doubt is such a poisonous emotion and to put it into words hints at the distrust one is at such pains to hide. The only way to discover the truth, Cressida learns, is to stray from her safe, predictable path… and take risks.

I am the author of eight historical romances published by Pan Macmillan Momentum, Robert Hale, Ellora's Cave and Total-e-Bound. Recently I won UK Women's Fiction publisher Choc-Lit's Search for An Australia Star competition with my suspenseful, Regency espionage Romance The Reluctant Bride, written under my Beverley Eikli name.

Does Size Matter?

When it comes to cocks of course it matters! Not necessarily that it has to be big, it just has to fit. Like keys in a lock, their sizes matter. Too big, too small and it ain’t going to work.

As an author, publishers frown on actual dimensions when writing about our heroes dangling bits – it’s not the right thing to do and to be honest this rule makes sense. For example, I wouldn't write “She pulled down his zipper, sneaked in her hand then gasped as eight inches of pulsing manhood lunged into her palm.” (Ha, ha, now I have a fab mental image of a big cock doing lunges and warming up for his run around the athletic track! – sorry, my odd mind!)

However, back to the topic, when the opportunity is there, as kids and adults, men do compare cock size. In the restrooms, showers etc. And why not, it’s easy for them, their cocks are out there, on display, unlike vaginas, which we have to admit, are pretty well hidden, when it comes to their size and shape, ‘we’ have a hidden sex organ - not the outside lippy bits, the internals.

That doesn’t mean that women don’t have different sized vaginas, we do, and this is the point. A women might have tight, short vagina and fall for a guy with an ultra-big penis – it’s not going to work, pain and dissatisfaction will reign, similarly a woman with a bigger vagina might hook up with a guy who is below averagely endowed, neither will feel anything, frustration will drive them crazy.

So it is very fortunate that we have the ability to be creative when it comes to sex, we have many body parts – and lots of toys at our disposal. There are more ways than one to pleasure each other.

So size matters, but both partners size, and not only that, the human body is about so much more than a few inches which extend outward or inward. I like to think all of my heroes have beautiful cocks and know how to use them in a way that is right for the woman they are with.

Here is a snippet from The Unwholesome Adventures of Harita taken from the wedding night and Kamini's first encounter with a cock (or as Indian-born Damon calls it lavDa.). I turned and rested my back against the cool glass of the mirror. “Do you remember your words?”

I nodded.

The little story that decided to become a novel

Recently the third part of my romantic m/m series, Calling the Shots, went on general sale.

The story of fumbling, learning-to-be Dominant Isaac and his topping-from-the-bottom submissive Tom took off as a short story about the committed and very much in love couple having a weekend of slightly kinky fun. And that would be it.

But that’s not how it went. By the time my editor had sent me the first round of edits, I realised that the gentlemen were still having a conversation in my head. So I asked if it was okay to make the story a bit longer. Oh, and before I forgot, was writing another story about them a problem? It wasn’t, as long as I made a third one as well, because it could become a series.

So, here are Facing the Truth, The Right Direction and Becoming Sir. What I intended to be a single story now begins to look like what most would consider a, be it short, novel.

Wait, did I just hear Isaac and Tom talk about what happened at the Club? Jealousy…Doms need to guard their boundaries as much as their subs do…trouble in paradise...?
